Dear Rice colleagues:

Over the past month, hundreds of us have participated in focus groups and interviews intended to develop a stronger brand positioning platform and marketing capability for Rice.  The exercise is aimed at finding language that will help unite and inspire us as a community and that will help build more awareness and appreciation for what makes Rice special in the larger world.

I’d like to invite those of you who have not participated so far to spend a few minutes contributing your insights to this effort.  We’ve posted some questions on our Web site, and you can access them by going to:

Faculty and Staff Survey Questionnaire:
http://students.rice.edu/Forms.asp?MODE=NEW&Forms_FormTypeID=-102

Student and Alumni Survey Questionnaire:
http://students.rice.edu/Forms.asp?MODE=NEW&Forms_FormTypeID=-100

Community Survey Questionnaire:

We’ve already learned a lot from this exercise.  We know that people associated with Rice are passionately devoted to this university.  They delight in its uniqueness and are proud of the quality of the education and research it does.  They know something important is under way as Rice takes big steps to achieve its Vision for the Second Century.  And they want Rice to shed some of its modesty and tell the world how good it is.

Your input will add to those findings and help us find a way to capture all the complexity that is Rice in ways that make this small university stand out from its peers in big ways.  Thank you, in advance, for helping us get there.

With warm regards,

Linda Thrane
Vice President for Public Affairs
