Rice University is pleased to offer free admission to this lecture to members of the Houston community.  Because of high anticipated demand, public tickets will be made available by an online lottery.  [LOTTERY NOW CLOSED].  Submitting your name is not a guarantee of a seat.  Recipients will be notified by e-mail by Wednesday, Oct. 17.  Entrants who do not receive event tickets may view the event via live webcast at http://webcast.rice.edu.  Each recipient will receive two (2) tickets (for recipient plus one guest).  Only the person who submitted his or her name and was notified by the university may claim tickets.  Tickets are nontransferable.  Please submit you name only once – duplicate entries will be discarded.  Seats unclaimed 10 minutes prior to the start of the event may be released.

SECURITY STATEMENT

Please plan to arrive early as the following security precautions will be in place:

• Tickets may be claimed at the event prior to the lecture.  Details of location and pick up times will be sent to lottery winners via e-mail. 

• Guests will be required to present valid government-issued IDs to claim tickets and gain admittance. Members of the Rice University community may present Rice photo IDs.

• Please do not bring backpacks, purses, briefcases or other packages as there will be no place to store or secure them.  Guests who arrive at the venue with prohibited items may be turned away.

• No recording devices of any kind will be permitted in the venue.  This includes cameras, video recorders or audio recording devices.  Guests who arrive at the venue with prohibited items may be turned away.

• Cell phones will be permitted as long as they are not used for photographic or recording purposes.  Guests who use cell phones to take photographs or otherwise record the lecture may be removed from the venue.
