In collaboration with Houston ARCH and Rice’s Center for the Study of Women, Gender & Sexuality, Rice students have conducted video oral history interviews
with important figures in the Houston LGBT community since 2007. During
Pride Houston 2011 (June 25, noon—7 p.m.), see recent interviews at the
Pride Festival history tent.

Rice University is committed to affirmative action and equal opportunity in education and employment.
Rice does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity,
national or ethnic origin, age, disability or veteran status.
So say Rice’s policies on admission and employment, but that’s
only part of the story.
Sure, we don’t discriminate, but more than that, ours is an
open, welcoming, nurturing community where tolerance is expected and
diversity is celebrated. Our differences we
value for the unique perspectives they provide, but no
difference is more important than
our common humanity.
